The complete plug and play sound upgrade for base audio BMWs: our BMW amplifier kit and speaker kit B in one box. You get a Match UP 4DSP 4 channel DSP amplifier, a plug and play signal harness, separate power cabling and fusing, a Match UP C42BMW-FRT.2 2-way front set and a pair of Match UP W8BMW-S 8″ under-seat subwoofers.

The Match UP 4DSP is a compact 4 channel Class GD amplifier with a built-in 5 channel 64 bit DSP. With the plug and play signal harness it bi-amps your BMW: channels A and B drive the front door speakers at 2 x 60 W RMS, and channels C and D drive the under-seat subwoofers at up to 2 x 140 W RMS into 2 Ω. The harness splits the signal between the doors and the under-seat subs without cutting or modifying any factory wiring, so the car can go back to standard if you ever need it to.

It is DIY friendly: plug and play wiring, separate power cabling and fusing in the box, and phone support from us while you fit it. There is no mounting bracket, so you choose where the amp goes; at 46 x 130 x 110 mm it fits in small spaces. Once it is in, we will set the DSP up properly for your car with a free 1 hour base tune at our Nottinghamshire workshop.

The front set pairs a 4″ coated paper mid-woofer with a 25 mm silk dome tweeter, and the ultra flat UP W8BMW-S subs bring stiff fiberglass cones and 42.5 mm voice coils at 2 Ω each, a good match for the amp’s 2 x 140 W RMS sub channels. Kit B uses the FRT.2 front set, which suits: 1 Series F20 F21, 2 Series F22 F23 F45 F46 F87 (M2), 3 Series F30 F31 F34 F35 F80 (M3), 4 Series F32 F33 F36 F82 F83 (M4), 5 Series G30 G31 G38 F90 (M5), 6 Series F06 G32, i8 I12 L15, X1 F48 F49, X2 F39, X3 F25 G01, X4 F26 G02.

Is my car base audio?

These kits are for BMWs with the standard (base) audio system, with or without ASD (Active Sound Design). The quick check: sit in the car and look at the small triangle panel behind each door mirror, at the front corner of the door window.

• Harman Kardon badge on the panel: Harman Kardon system, not compatible.
• A tweeter with no badge: usually the HiFi system, not compatible.
• No tweeter: base audio, compatible.

Some early E-series 1 and 5 Series cars have a tweeter or an empty grille there even on base audio, so if in doubt send us a photo and we will confirm before you order.

Tweeter panels

The front set is a 2-way system: the tweeters fit in the triangle panels behind the door mirrors. Base audio cars do not have tweeter panels there, so you will need a pair. Everything else for the front set is in the box, including the crossovers and plug-in cabling for the tweeters, so fitting is completely non-destructive. Tweeter panels are not included in this kit. They are available from BMW dealers; part numbers to follow, so ask us and we will point you to the right ones for your car.
